The Science (briefly)
Weatherproof outdoor car covers need to protect against condensation – not just humidity. Condensation is the main threat when storing your vehicle outside. When warmer air comes in contact with colder air such as on metal panels and glass on cars it forms condensation (moisture). This happens if there are rapid changes in temperature. By constantly moving air, In the GarageTM creates a stable environment and perfect capsule and car cocoon system with limited changes in temperature. This reduces the opportunity for condensation to occur and keeps your vehicle dryer.
Please note that in very damp weather conditions, the airflow may not be sufficient to completely avoid condensation. In high humidity and cold weather, moisture capacity in the air is reduced and the dew point is higher. When the air temperature reaches or dips below the dew point, airborne water vaper will form dew when it comes in contact with a colder surface – such as the walls or ceiling of the Car Shield. The best ways to counter this are to:
- Open the Car Shield regularly to increase air flow in case of high humidity and cold weather. Ventilation is key.
- Wipe down the ceiling and the walls
- Keep the temperature inside and outside the Car Shield as stable as possible. Avoid warming the air in the Car Shield as that will increase the amount of humidity the air can hold.

What’s my car worth?
(we are referring to classic cars here). It is a good question with lots of possible variables like condition, upkeep, provenance, history, numbers produced, optional equipment, etc…

Un kit assez robuste. Ma voiture (Porsche Boxster 986) s’intègre parfaitement dans le Outdoor Car Shield (version 16 ‘) avec un peu d’espace à revendre. Facile à monter, a pris environ 30 minutes par moi-même. Installez une couche de mousse en dessous, comme recommandé, le matériau de base n’aime pas l’abrasion directement avec le tarmac, lorsque je positionnais la voiture. Je n’avais pas de mousse au départ, mais j’ai installé une couche de 2 mm d’épaisseur sous la base, ce qui devrait faire l’affaire. Je serai intéressé de voir ce que cela fait sur mes factures d’électricité, avec deux ventilateurs 12v fonctionnant 24 heures sur 24, 7 jours sur 7, mais en l’absence de plus d’espace de garage, c’est un petit prix à payer. A pretty robust bit of kit. My car (Porsche Boxster 986) fits nicely in the Outdoor Car Shield (16’ version) with a bit of room to spare. The newly issued UK transformer (without needing an adapter) and longer (3m) Low Voltage (12v) cable makes life a lot easier to install and a much safer solution in the long term. Easy to erect, took about 30 minutes on my own. Do install a layer of foam underneath, as recommended, the base material does not like abrasion directly with tarmac, when I was positioning the car. I didn’t have any foam initially, but have installed a 2mm thick layer under the base, which should do the trick. I will be interested to see what this does to my electricity bills, with two 12v fans running 24/7, but in that absence of more garage space, it’s a small price to pay. (In the Garage reply: “about 2-3 USD/GBP/Euro per month”)
